Your First Session
Counselling and Psychotherapy and Supervision
The key to successful therapy is finding the right therapist for you. However good a therapist is, it's the relationship between the two of you that determines whether you trust them enough, and they come to understand enough about you, to help explore and find solutions for your problem.
Our first appointment provides an opportunity for us to look at why you have contacted me, what you hope to achieve, and whether I am someone you would like to work with.
We always start with an initial assessment session and this meeting forms an important part of the therapeutic process.
The purpose of the assessment session is for both of us to:
- Explore whether or not I am the best person to be working with you
- Look at the problem you're presenting
- Discuss what you feel you need or what you want to achieve
- Discover more about your personal history
- Consider the best way I can help you
- Clarify information on fees and confidentiality
